Softball Recap: Radford Bobcats vs. Patrick County Cougars

Radford extended their losing streak to ten on Friday, dropping their season record down to 1-10 in the process. They came up short against the Patrick County Cougars, falling 17-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 back in April.

Radford saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abie Slate, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for Patrick County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.

On Patrick County's side, Hayden Lawless made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Lawless has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Journey Moore, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Lauren Hazelwood, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
