Football Recap: Ivan Jones' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Corning over Foothill + How To Watch

It was a proper cat-fight when Corning duked it out with Foothill on Friday. The Cardinals took a 36-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. The Cardinals have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Corning lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ivan Jones, who picked up 79 receiving yards and two TDs. Another player making a difference was Kaleb Flournoy, who gained 91 total yards and two touchdowns.

Foothill can attribute much of their success to John Puffer, who threw for 171 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 15 passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. Ethan Andersen also helped out as he racked up 110 receiving yards.

Corning's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Foothill, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.

Corning and Foothill will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Cardinals will take on rival Oroville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Foothill is set to challenge their familiar foe Shasta at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
