Baseball Recap: South Davidson Wildcats vs. Thomasville Bulldogs
South Davidson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Thomasville Bulldogs. If the Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing 5-4 to the Bulldogs when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Ronnie Benfield put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Benfield was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
South Davidson's record now sits at 4-8. As for Thomasville, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8.
Looking ahead, Thomasville will venture away from home to challenge Wheatmore at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. South Davidson will be paying especially close attention to the Bulldogs' game: after the Bulldogs faces off against the Warriors, they'll take on South Davidson again at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
