League recap: Sanders powers Madison Central with hot hitting week

6A Region 4 league recap: 4/3/13

Lee Sanders was the hottest hitter in 6A Region 4 this week, racking up a .667 average, three home runs and seven RBIs. Madison Central compiled a record of 3-0 in that time.

The league's top pitcher this week was Murrah's Robert Lard. Over the past week, he had one win and 12 Ks.

The Jaguars boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks.

Even after stealing 23 bases to lead the league over the past week, Jim Hill is still looking up at Northwest Rankin, which ranks No. 1 in steals, with 94 on the year.

There were eight hitters that batted over .400 in the league this week. They were led by Graham Ahlrich, who hit .857 this week (6-for-7).

The most home runs in the league this week went to Reid Humphreys, who bashed three for the Cougars. He ranks first in the league with seven on the year.



Ray Robinson had a multi-hit game on Tuesday, when he went 4-for-6 in the Mustangs' 26-12 win against the Tigers. He also drove in five runners and scored three runs.

Layton Dill struck out nine in Madison Central's 3-2 win over Northwest Rankin on March 26. Over six innings of work, he gave up three hits and two runs.
