Baseball Recap: Rocky Mount Academy Beats Harrells Christian Academy for Their Second Straight Win

Rocky Mount Academy lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Harrells Christian Academy, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's contest. The Eagles' pitcher stepped up to hand the Crusaders a 12-0 shutout on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won four games by 12 runs or more so far this season.

Seth Tickel made a splash while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jordan Creech-Jones, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Rocky Mount Academy is undefeated when Creech-Jones posts two or more runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Gehrig Miller, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Rocky Mount Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harrells Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .167.

The win made it two in a row for Rocky Mount Academy and bumps their season record up to 6-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Harrells Christian Academy, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rocky Mount Academy will head out to square off against Kerr-Vance Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Harrells Christian Academy, they will venture away from home to take on Epiphany at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Crusaders are facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
