Baseball Recap: Temple Has No Trouble Against Mt. Zion

Temple never got on the board in their matchup last Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Mt. Zion on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Mt. Zion Eagles with a sharp 13-3 victory. The Tigers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Brody Dempsey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up three earned runs off nine hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. He also put up two RBI, which werehis first of the season.

In other batting news, Temple let Gage Andel and Robert Ceaser run wild. Andel scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Ceaser scored two runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs Andel has posted since back in March of 2024. Micah Caldwell also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Temple always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win got Temple back to even at 2-2. As for Mt. Zion, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coincidentally, Temple and Mt. Zion will both be playing Armuchee the next time they take the field. Mt. Zion will host Armuchee at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Temple will play them later in the day, at 11:00 a.m.
