Football Game Preview: Gladbrook-Reinbeck Rebels vs. Easton Valley

The Gladbrook-Reinbeck Rebels will look to defend their home field on Friday against Easton Valley. One thing working in Gladbrook-Reinbeck's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They claimed a resounding 56-7 win over Ar-We-Va. The Rebels pushed the score to 49-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Rockets had no chance of recovering from.

Trevor Mathern and Treyvon Herron were among the main playmakers for Gladbrook-Reinbeck as the former rushed for 158 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries and the latter rushed for 126 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Those 158 rushing yards gave Mathern a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hudson Clark, who picked up 65 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Gladbrook-Reinbeck was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 314 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Easton Valley). They blew past Belle Plaine 80-52 on Friday. Considering Easton Valley has won six games by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The victory was the third in a row for Easton Valley, bringing their record up to 8-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points over those games. As for Gladbrook-Reinbeck, their record is now 9-0.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck was dealt a bruising 55-0 loss at the hands of Easton Valley when the teams last played back in October of 2020. Can the Rebels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
