Softball Recap: Canterbury Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mount Dora Christian Academy, Canterbury was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They blew past the Indian Rocks Christian Eagles 12-1. The victory continues a trend for the Crusaders in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won six in a row.

Marina Roper made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Roper was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Lourdes Guzman was incredible, firing off two home runs, four RBI, and one stolen base while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Cali Baust was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.

Canterbury always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive matchups.

Canterbury's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Indian Rocks Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Canterbury wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 9-2 loss against Pinellas Park on the 28th. As for Indian Rocks Christian, they have also already played their next contest, a 15-2 defeat against Mount Dora Christian Academy on the 28th.
