Football Recap: St. Joseph Starts Season with Victory Against Riverfield Academy

St. Joseph had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They took down the Riverfield Academy Raiders 26-7 on Friday. The Fighting Irish pushed the score to 20-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Raiders cut but never quite recovered from.

Victor Baker had an outrageously good game as he threw for 329 yards and four TDs, and also rushed for 39 yards. That's the most passing touchdowns he has posted since back in August of 2024. Jaleel Moore was Baker's top target, picking up 147 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Looking ahead, St. Joseph will look to defend their home field on Friday against Bayou Academy at 7:00 p.m. As for Riverfield Academy, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will take on River Oaks on Friday.
