Baseball Game Preview: Westwood Redhawks vs. Fairfield Central Griffins

Westwood hasn't had much luck against Fairfield Central recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Westwood Redhawks will venture away from home to take on the Fairfield Central Griffins at 6:00 p.m. Westwood will be strutting in after a victory while Fairfield Central will be coming in after a defeat.

Westwood is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Ridge View on Tuesday. Westwood's pitchers stepped up to hand Ridge View a 4-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Redhawks in their matchups with the Blazers: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Fairfield Central scored first but ultimately less than Chester in their contest on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Cyclones by a score of 4-3.

Fairfield Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jamari Favors, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double was Favors' first of the season.

Fairfield Central has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. The victory got Westwood back to even at 2-2.

Westwood couldn't quite get it done against Fairfield Central in their previous meeting two weeks ago as they fell 6-1. Can Westwood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
