Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Hazen

Seven must be Hazen's lucky number: they beat Turtle Lake-Mercer with that score not once but twice on Thursday. The Bison beat the Trojans by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-5. The victory was familiar territory for the Bison, who have now won three contests in a row.

Ava Jungers made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Jungers was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

In other batting news, Elliot Myklebust and Devin Weisz did most of the damage at the plate: Myklebust went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run, while Weisz got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Mattea Hysjulien, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Hazen's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Turtle Lake-Mercer, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Hazen will be playing at home against Beulah at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bison's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Miners have averaged an impressive 10.7 runs per game this season. As for Turtle Lake-Mercer, they are taking a road trip to take on Nedrose at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
