Volleyball Recap: Dexter Find Success

Dexter won the last time they faced Sikeston and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Bearcats came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 3-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bearcats.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 17-25, 25-7, 25-16.

Klaire Essner paced Dexter's offense, picking up nine kills. Essner got some help from Brooklyn Goodman and her 15 assists. Essner also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Sidney Booker, racking up three apiece.

Despite the loss, Sikeston saw an underclassman step up: freshman Londyn Mitchell had 30 digs and two aces. Those 30 digs set a new season-high mark for Mitchell. Another player making a difference was Bailey Null, who had ten digs.

The victory got Dexter back to even at 6-6-2. As for Sikeston, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9-1 record this season.

Dexter will square off against Bell City at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sikeston, they will head out on the road to square off against Scott City at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
