Baseball Game Preview: Marina Vikings vs. Corona del Mar Sea Kings

For the second straight game, Marina will face off against Corona del Mar. The Vikings are taking a road trip to challenge the Sea Kings at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Marina 3.2, Corona del Mar 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Marina will face Corona del Mar after dropping another heartbreaker against Corona del Mar on Tuesday, which marked the second time in a row the team's come within 2.1 of beating them. The Vikings fell just short of the Sea Kings by a score of 5-4. The loss continues a trend for the Vikings in their meetings with the Sea Kings: they've now lost five in a row.

NICHOLAS MURREY was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Marina got a good showing from LUKE GRAVES, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. GRAVES has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, JAYDEN REICHELT was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

The victory made it two in a row for Corona del Mar and bumps their season record up to 9-12. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Marina, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-11.
