AAAA Region 8 Top Player Performances of the Week

Jayden Barr Tops All Others This Week

Starting off the list is Eastside's Jayden Barr, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Barr made six total tackles and defended a pass. Thanks to that strong showing, he's now averaging 2.2 rushing touchdowns per game. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making six total tackles and defending a pass.

With the defeat, Eastside broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-1. Barr and Eastside will take on East Forsyth at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Howard Made His Presence Known in Walnut Grove's 34-15 Loss

Emadd Howard continued his hot streak on Thursday by dropping his eighth-straight game (dating back to last season) with at least 126 rushing yards. He rushed for 188 yards and two touchdowns.

This season, Howard has run in 17 touchdowns while averaging 194.2 rushing yards per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he had nine rushing touchdowns.

Brock Szakacs produced his most outstanding game to date while leading East Forsyth to the win on Thursday. Szakacs threw for 110 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 81 yards on only six carries. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 57 yards.

The win (which was East Forsyth's third in a row) raised their record to 7-1. Szakacs and East Forsyth are taking a road trip to take on Eastside at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Another Eastside player making an appearance on this list is Myles Mims. He rushed for 110 yards on only nine carries.

Bailey Benson Turns in Another Game with at Least Eight Total Tackles

Eastside came up short on Friday despite Bailey Benson delivering his best game to date. Benson wasn't messing around, picking up a sack and making 11 total tackles. The game was his third straight with eight or more total tackles dating back to last season.

On the year, Benson has averaged 6.2 total tackles per game and for the season has 2 sacks. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he had one sack.
