Baseball Game Preview: Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougars vs. Aplington-Parkersburg Falcons

The Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougars will square off against the Aplington-Parkersburg Falcons at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Sumner-Fredericksburg not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since June 10, 2024 (when they won 10-0). They blew past Waukon 11-2. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, the third road game was the charm for Aplington-Parkersburg, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They skirted past Columbus 6-4. The Falcons' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The win got Sumner-Fredericksburg back to even at 1-1. As for Aplington-Parkersburg, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Sumner-Fredericksburg was able to grind out a solid win over Aplington-Parkersburg in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 6-1. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
