Basketball Recap: Lutheran Drops Highest Score of Season Against Discovery Canyon

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lutheran). They put the hurt on the Discovery Canyon Thunder with a sharp 71-50 win on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Thunder: they've now won six in a row.

It was another big night for Berkley Schneider, who posted 17 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists. That's the most assists she has posted since back in January of 2024. Isla Koffmann was another key player, putting up eight points and six boards.

Schneider wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Lutheran was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Discovery Canyon lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Dillan McComb, who went 5-for-10 en route to 12 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Hulse, who went 5-for-9 on her way to 14 points and six boards.

The win got Lutheran back to even at 10-10. As for Discovery Canyon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 12-9 record this season.

Looking ahead, Lutheran will square off against Lewis-Palmer at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lutheran has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Discovery Canyon, they will face off against Cheyenne Mountain at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Discovery Canyon is facing Cheyenne Mountain at the right time seeing as Cheyenne Mountain is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
