Basketball Preview: Stratton Eagles vs. Flagler Panthers
The Stratton Eagles will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Flagler Panthers at 4:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Stratton's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while the Panthers have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
Stratton put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They really took it to Byers for the full four quarters, racking up a 55-27 win on the road. Given Stratton's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 189th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Clare Miltenberger was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Sophia Isenbart was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Flagler was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 57-53 to the Patriots.
Stratton is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season. As for Flagler, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
Stratton was able to grind out a solid win over the Panthers in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 62-49. Will Stratton repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
