Volleyball Recap: Belmont Marauders vs. Wakefield Memorial Warriors
After flying high against Arlington last Thursday, Belmont came back down to earth. The Marauders fell just short of the Wakefield Memorial Warriors by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. While the Marauders didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Warriors 25-21 in the first set.
Belmont took Wakefield Memorial into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking three-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-17, 25-16, 21-25, 15-12.
Among those leading the charge was Brendia Diaz, who had eight digs and two aces. She is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last three games she's played.
Belmont's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Wakefield Memorial, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Belmont has already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Woburn Memorial on the 18th. As for Wakefield Memorial, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against Burlington on the 18th.
