Basketball Recap: Denmark-Olar Falls Short Against Ranked Mauldin

On Saturday, Denmark-Olar faced Mauldin in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Denmark-Olar Vikings lost 43-21 to the Mauldin Mavericks. The matchup marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Zara Leamon was the offensive standout of the contest as she posted 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Destiny Mattison, who had four points in addition to 11 rebounds and four blocks.

This is the second loss in a row for Denmark-Olar and nudges their season record down to 5-2. As for Mauldin, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.

Denmark-Olar wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 48-37 win against Lancaster on the 23rd. As for Mauldin, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 82-43 loss against Spring Valley on the 23rd.
