It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but McClave had no problem doing just that on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Fleming Wildcats 3-2. The win was familiar territory for the Cardinals, who have now won 12 matches in a row.

Their offense was headlined by Avery Hemphill and Abrielle Gomez, who picked up 21 kills apiece. They got some help from Yesenia Almanza and her 47 assists. Finally, Gomez was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high 12 blocks.

Fleming lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Emoree Lousberg, who had ten digs.

McClave's victory bumped their record up to 24-2. As for Fleming, they moved to 22-4 with that defeat, which also ended their three-match winning streak.

McClave has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Flatirons Academy on the 15th. As for Fleming, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Sargent on the 15th.
