Hunter Jiron posted a new career-high in strikeouts on Friday. He struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and only one walk), good enough for us to rate the performance as the best he's had all season long. He is becoming a predictor of St. Pius X's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 10-11 when he doesn't).

Jiron's strong effort led St. Pius X over Kirtland Central and he'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
