Baseball Game Preview: Merritt Academy Mustangs vs. Capac Chiefs

The Merritt Academy Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Capac Chiefs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Merritt Academy has given up an average of 9.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Merritt Academy lost 13-3 to Almont on Thursday. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Merritt Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Wolfe, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Capac entered their tilt with Marlette on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 17-3 margin over the Red Raiders. The result was nothing new for the Chiefs, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Capac pushed their record up to 9-7-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Merritt Academy, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Merritt Academy suffered a grim 11-5 defeat to Capac in their previous meeting last Friday. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
