Baseball Recap: Kouts Picks Up Sixth Straight Win at Home

The matchup between Kouts and Washington Township on Friday hardly resembled the 3-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Mustangs & Fillies were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over the Senators. Considering the Mustangs & Fillies have won ten matchups by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Noah Gudeman made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Kouts got a massive performance out of Billy Miller, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that Miller has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Collin Breitzke, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Kouts always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Washington Township only posted an OBP of .320.

Kouts' win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Washington Township, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5-1.

Looking ahead, Kouts will square off against South Central at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Washington Township, they will be playing at home against River Forest at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Ingots will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Senators surely won't give up without a fight.
