Basketball Recap: Prairie Lea Comes Up Short

Prairie Lea was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 17th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Valor South Austin Falcons, falling 71-37. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Indians of the 69-53 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2023.

Valor South Austin's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joel Runacres, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. Those nine boards gave Runacres a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Levin Dwelle, who posted ten points in addition to seven boards and five assists.

Prairie Lea's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Valor South Austin, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.

Prairie Lea will take on Waelder at 7:15 p.m. on January 10th. As for Valor South Austin, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 93-5 win against KIPP Austin Brave on the 7th.
