Baseball Game Preview: Toledo Indians vs. Napavine Tigers

The Toledo Indians are taking a road trip to face off against the Napavine Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Toledo and Kalama, and Toledo kept the tradition alive. The Indians skirted past the Chinooks 9-8. That's two games straight that the Indians have won by just one run.

Meanwhile, Napavine had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They never let the Timberwolves get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won six games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Napavine pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Toledo, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Toledo couldn't quite get it done against Napavine when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 10-6. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
