Basketball Game Preview: Lincoln Southwest Silver Hawks vs. Norfolk Panthers

Lincoln Southwest is 10-0 against Norfolk since November of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Lincoln Southwest Silver Hawks are taking a road trip to challenge the Norfolk Panthers at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lincoln Southwest has four straight wins, Norfolk has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Saturday, Lincoln Southwest escaped with a win against Kearney by the margin of a single free throw, 46-45.

Lincoln Southwest found their leader in sophomore Kaytee Irons-Buettner, who went 7 of 15 en route to 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Irons-Buettner has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Taryn Weigel, who posted six points.

Meanwhile, Norfolk ended up a good deal behind Lincoln East on Tuesday and lost 59-44.

Lincoln Southwest will have to contain Bo Caskey as she made an impact in Norfolk's last game. She had 16 points. Those 16 points gave Caskey a new career-high. Emma Long was another key player, putting up seven points.

Lincoln Southwest pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.1 points per game. As for Norfolk, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Lincoln Southwest took their win against Norfolk in their previous matchup back in February by a conclusive 59-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lincoln Southwest since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
