Recap: Young Americans Christian Eagles vs. Lanier Christian Academy Lightning
The Young Americans Christian Eagles and the Lanier Christian Academy Lightning squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Young Americans Christian Eagles had to settle for second. They fell 45-36 to the Lightning. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Young Americans Christian in their matchups with Lanier Christian Academy: they've now lost nine in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Young Americans Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Shelby Housworth. Despite the final result, she scored 12 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Serenity Phillips, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Young Americans Christian struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Lanier Christian Academy racked up 12 assists.
Jia Thapar was her usual excellent self, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and three blocks for Lanier Christian Academy. Another player making a difference was Ellie Roberts, who scored five points along with ten rebounds.
Young Americans Christian's loss dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Lanier Christian Academy, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 19-8.
