Softball Game Preview: Russell Red Devils vs. East Carter Raiders

The Russell Red Devils will face off against the East Carter Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Russell has given up an average of 9 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Russell is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Saturday, they were much more limited against Raceland on Tuesday. They came up short against the Rams, falling 12-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Red Devils in their meetings with the Rams: they've now lost seven in a row.

Hadley Cook was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

Meanwhile, East Carter came tearing into Wednesday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Panthers a 10-0 shutout. The Raiders' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three games.

East Carter's victory bumped their record up to 17-5. As for Russell, their loss dropped their record down to 7-15.
