Basketball Recap: Woodbury Takes a Loss

Woodbury was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 70-36 loss at the hands of the Academy of the New Church Lions. The match marked the Thundering Herd's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Academy of the New Church to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dior Carter, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 boards. The dominant performance also gave Carter a new career-high in blocks (six). Another player making a difference was Marquis Newson, who went 9 for 13 on his way to 18 points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks.

Woodbury's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Academy of the New Church, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-9.

Woodbury will look to defend their home court on Monday against Eastside at 5:30 p.m. As for Academy of the New Church, they will venture away from home to challenge Westtown at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Academy of the New Church knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Westtown likes a good challenge.
