Baseball Recap: Danvers Comes Up Short

Danvers extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 5-7 in the process. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Beverly Panthers. The game marked the first time this year in which the Falcons were not able to get on the board.

As for Beverly, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games.

For Beverly's part, the result came thanks to Micah McMannus's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks. McMannus also tossed no walks, which is notable because the Panthers are 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Beverly saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Charles Salerno, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Looking ahead, Danvers will head out on the road to face off against Gloucester at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Beverly, they will host Salem at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Witches' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
