Basketball Recap: Matanzas Snags Fourth Victory in Last Five Games

Matanzas won the last time they faced Menendez, and Alexander Davis did his part to make sure it happened again. The Matanzas Pirates rang in the new year with a 64-51 victory over the Menendez Falcons on Saturday thanks in part to Davis, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 boards. The matchup was his sixth in a row with at least ten points.

Nathaniel Perry was another key player, putting up seven points and nine assists. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played.

Matanzas is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.2 points per game. As for Menendez, they dropped their record down to 3-10 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Matanzas will head out to face off against Deltona at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Menendez, they will face off against Ridgeview at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
