Volleyball Recap: Nucla Takes a Loss

Nucla lost against Dolores back in October of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Mustangs lost 3-0 to the Bears. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Mustangs have suffered since October 22, 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-10, 25-15.

Nucla's offense was headlined by Shay Snyder and Josey Herland, who picked up four kills apiece. They were helped by Peyton Naslund and Kaydance Larsen, who contributed five assists each.

Dolores found their leader in freshman Layla Mitchell, who had 15 digs. Those 15 digs set a new season-high mark for Mitchell.

Nucla's loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-4. As for Dolores, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Nucla didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 win against Hayden on the 6th. As for Dolores, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Mancos on the 11th.
