Recap: Seventy-First Falcons vs. Westover Wolverines
After a string of ten wins, the Seventy-First Falcons's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell 70-59 to Westover. Seventy-First was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Westover apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Seventy-First's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mylon Campbell, who scored 26 points along with five rebounds and two steals, and Jacquez Foster who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Foster is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for four games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of DeAndre Nance, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Ari Fulton continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Westover, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Fulton is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Malachi Allen, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Seventy-First's defeat ended a nine-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-2. As for Westover, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Seventy-First will take on South View at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully South View focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Tuesday. As for Westover, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Pine Forest at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Hopefully Pine Forest focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Wednesday.
