Baseball Recap: Pine Forest Trojans vs. Pinecrest Patriots
Pine Forest had lost 13 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 1-15 to make it 14. They lost 20-0 to the Pinecrest Patriots. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-2 back in March.
Pine Forest saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Geske, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
As for Pinecrest, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. The result was nothing new for Pinecrest, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.
On Pinecrest's side, Cody Graham looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave Graham a new career-high in strikeouts (four).
At the plate, Bohdi Robertson was a standout: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Patrick Maicke also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Looking ahead, Pinecrest will take on West Stanly at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Patriots 3.1, the Colts 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Pine Forest will be paying especially close attention to Pinecrest's matchup: after Pinecrest faces off against West Stanly, they'll take on Pine Forest again at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
