Basketball Recap: DJ Brown's Big Game Can't Quite Lead North Point over Oxon Hill

North Point was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost to the Oxon Hill Clippers at home by a 61-42 margin. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 169th, while the Clippers are ranked 31st).

North Point's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was DJ Brown, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Jermaine Griffin was another key player, putting up six points.

Even though they lost, North Point smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Oxon Hill got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cole Scott out in front who posted 19 points. With that strong performance, Scott is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. Another player making a difference was Nigel Harris, who put up 15 points.

North Point's record is now 2-6. As for Oxon Hill, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

North Point will square off against Northern at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Oxon Hill, they will face off against Northwestern at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Oxon Hill's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
