Softball Game Preview: Patrick Henry Patriots vs. Salem Spartans

Patrick Henry is 0-10 against Salem since April of 2018 but things could change on Tuesday. The Patriots will head out to challenge the Spartans at 5:00 p.m. Patrick Henry has given up an average of 13 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Patrick Henry is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Wednesday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 11-5 to Hidden Valley, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Meanwhile, Salem's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's fifth consecutive shutout on Friday. They never let Christiansburg get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory. While the Spartans didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Salem pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Patrick Henry, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-12.

Patrick Henry suffered a grim 15-3 defeat to Salem in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
