Baseball Game Preview: Heritage Christian Eagles vs. Indy Genesis HomeSchool Indy Genesis

The Heritage Christian Eagles will challenge the Indy Genesis HomeSchool Indy Genesis at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

On Wednesday, Heritage Christian made easy work of Indianapolis Bishop Chatard and carried off an 8-2 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Eagles have posted against the Trojans since April 11, 2022.

Heritage Christian got a great performance from Kellen Compton as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. Compton has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Will Ambrose, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Luke Strege, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Indy Genesis HomeSchool came tearing into Tuesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by an 18-1 margin over the Lancers. Considering the Indy Genesis have won five contests by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Indy Genesis HomeSchool pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Heritage Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Heritage Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against Indy Genesis HomeSchool in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Indy Genesis have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
