Scioto Valley recap Oct. 23, 2012

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Zane Trace, who took down 512th ranked Zane Trace, 21-0.

Westfall extended the longest winning streak in Scioto Valley this week by beating Adena, 28-23. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Mustangs.

Piketon's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Issac Brabson threw for 182 and two touchdowns and Evan Ferguson had 95 yards receiving. On the ground Stephen Royster chipped in 150 yards. Colten William helped Piketon's passing attack out by catching two balls for 57 yards.

The Redstreaks' Brabson and William have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Brabson has thrown for 1934 yards this season, while William has 33 catches for 633 yards. John Vanderpool from Unioto leads the league in rushing with 984 yards.

The Shermans' Vanderpool needs only 16 yards against Paint Valley next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.

Entering into this week's contest against the Warriors, Brabson is short just 66 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Westfall takes on Huntington. Scott Keller's team is in first place, while the Huntsmen are in fifth place.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Bearcats take on Unioto. Paint Valley has allowed 173 points this season, while Jerry Hudnell's team has given up 196. Pete Hollon's team allowed 7 points last week as it defeated Huntington.

The Shermans moved up to 531 from 568 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Scioto Valley. Unioto climbed the ranks as a result of beating the Pioneers 21-0.
