Softball Game Preview: Mineola Yellowjackets vs. Van Vandals

The Mineola Yellowjackets will take on the Van Vandals at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Thursday, Mineola got the win against Edgewood by a conclusive 8-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Yellowjackets.

Mineola let Jorja Young and Mahayla McMahon run wild. Young went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while McMahon went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Kali Chrietzberg was another key player, earning two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Van waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with 18 straight wins... but they left with 19. They never let the Bears get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory. Give the Vandals' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Van pushed their record up to 22-5 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mineola, their win bumped their record up to 14-10-2.
