Softball Recap: Morgan Wins Going Away Against Union

Morgan barely beat Union the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Trojans put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 12-1 win on Tuesday. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by eight runs or more this season.

Callie Averett spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Joesi Kelly, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Kaiya Peterson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Morgan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 15 consecutive matchups.

Morgan has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Union, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-10.

As of now, neither Morgan nor the Cougars have any future games scheduled.
