Baseball Recap: Northern Guilford Comes Up Short

Northern Guilford lost against Northwest Guilford back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Nighthawks took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. The Nighthawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

John Yarnovich was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off seven hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in February.

On the hitting side, Elijah Breedlove was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

Northern Guilford's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Northwest Guilford, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Northern Guilford beat Northwest Guilford by a score of 5-0 on Friday.
