The Payette Pirates will venture away from home to challenge the Cole Valley Christian Chargers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Payette is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

On Saturday, Payette earned an 11-7 victory over Melba. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

The team relied heavily on Darrien Pecunia, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Callen Ennis, who scored two runs and stole two bases.

Payette always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Cole Valley Christian faced Vallivue in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Chargers lost 7-1 to the Falcons. The Chargers' defeat signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.

Cole Valley Christian saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Kile, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Cole Valley Christian's loss dropped their record down to 15-3. As for Payette, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Payette came out on top in a nail-biter against Cole Valley Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
