Winning is just a little bit easier when your three-point shooting is a whole 22% better than the opposition, a fact the Madison County Cowboys proved on Wednesday. They strolled past FAMU DRS with points to spare, taking the game 58-44. That's another feather in the cap for Madison County, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Madison County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Marcus Hawkins Jr., who scored six points along with ten rebounds and nine assists. That's the first time this season that Hawkins Jr. posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Micah Newman, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
FAMU DRS's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Fred Ervin, who scored nine points along with 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alphonza Gammons, who scored ten points.
Madison County's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for FAMU DRS, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-9.
