Softball Recap: Wisconsin Heights Takes a Loss

Wisconsin Heights extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 7-12 in the process. They lost 10-0 to the Dodgeville Dodgers. The Vanguards were not able to make up for their defeat to the Dodgers from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Wisconsin Heights saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Haley Wipperfurth, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

As for Dodgeville, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games.

On Dodgeville's side, Lily Weigel was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Weigel has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Emma Dougherty was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Rylee Forsyth was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wisconsin Heights will take on Randolph at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dodgeville, they will face off against Richland Center at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Dodgers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
