Armstrong proved they can win big on Monday (they won by six) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Paxton-Buckley-Loda Panthers 6-5. For the Trojans, this counts as revenge for the 7-5 victory the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2023.

Becket Moran made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Moran wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carter Freeman, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Rhys Showalter was another, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Armstrong's record is now 11-4. As for Paxton-Buckley-Loda, they dropped their record down to 11-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Armstrong will take on Iroquois West at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Paxton-Buckley-Loda, they will square off against St. Thomas More at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
