Basketball Preview: Central A & M Raiders vs. Shelbyville Rams
The Central A & M Raiders are on the road again on Tuesday and plays the Shelbyville Rams at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. Central A & M will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 552nd, while the Rams are ranked 182nd).
Central A & M pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Meridian on the road by a decisive 77-58 margin. Central A & M has not had much luck with the Hawks recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Meanwhile, Shelbyville waltzed into their game on Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. They put the hurt on Warrensburg-Latham with a sharp 62-40 victory. Shelbyville has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 22 points or more this season.
Central A & M's loss dropped their record down to 10-16. As for Shelbyville, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.
Central A & M was dealt a bruising 67-37 loss at the hands of the Rams in their previous matchup last Monday. Can Central A & M avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
