8A District 11 recap October 8, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in 8A District 11 this week, Monarch beat Coral Springs 49-7. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Knights.
Monarch took down the Colts 49-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Travis Liburd was a passing and rushing force as Piper defeated Coral Glades.
Liburd was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 171 yards on 17 carries as the Bengals lost to South Plantation. Gavin Watson also contributed to the rushing game with 12 yards on the ground.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, the Eagles' Brett Israel and Tate Lehtio have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-0 quarterback Israel has thrown for 783 yards this season, while Lehtio has 21 catches for 265 yards. Liburd from Piper leads the league in rushing with 868 yards.
An important game coming up in 8A District 11 this week will be when Taravella takes on Calvin Davis' team. At the moment, the Trojans are in fourth, while the Knights are in first.
Deerfield Beach led the league in scoring this week after putting up 63 points on Taravella.
