Basketball Game Preview: Maclay Marauders vs. Lincoln Trojans

Two dominant guards in Lauren Guyer and Jamiya Brown are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Maclay Marauders will head out on the road to square off against the Lincoln Trojans at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Maclay took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They walked away with a 39-29 victory over Taylor County.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Lincoln's strategy against Leon on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Lincoln blew Leon out of the water with a 61-16 final score. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 24 points or more this season.

Maclay better keep an eye on Brown. She was instrumental in Lincoln's win, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. Brown's evening made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keeli Duncan, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 boards.

Lincoln smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 32 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since the start of last season.

Maclay pushed their record up to 13-7 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.6 points per game. As for Lincoln, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Maclay was dealt a bruising 75-36 loss at the hands of Lincoln in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Maclay avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
