Basketball Preview: Truckee Wolverines vs. Sparks Railroaders
After both having extra time off, the Truckee Wolverines and the Sparks Railroaders will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Truckee has now lost nine straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since November 29.
Back in December of 2024, Truckee might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Churchill County an easy 69-44 victory. While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 101st in California, while the Greenwave are ranked 33rd in Nevada).
Despite the loss, Truckee got top-tier performance from Vincent Long, who went 8 of 14 on his way to 24 points. The team also got some help courtesy of David Romero, who posted five points and seven rebounds.
