Basketball Recap: Marietta Falls Despite Big Games from Howell Owen and Merrick Ham

Marietta lost against Walton back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Marietta Blue Devils took a 59-43 bruising from the Walton Raiders. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while the Raiders are ranked 11th).

Despite the defeat, Marietta had strong showings from Merrick Ham, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 11 points, and Howell Owen, who posted 11 points. The dominant performance gave Owen a new career-high in points.

Marietta has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season. As for Walton, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-4.

As of now, neither Marietta nor Walton have any future games scheduled.
